Gate 30 HK airport. My original flight was delayed three hours! Hey, I've waited 35 years to take this flight a few hours extra doesn't matter. So it's here, my plane. My plane with a kangaroo on it. For those of you who don't know I paid an extra £300 to fly into Sydney on Qantas with a kangaroo! I haven't stopped beaming since I left Manchester a few days ago but feels like a lifetime ago. So I'm not ashamed to say I am sitting here, waiting to board with tears do sheer happiness! I've dreamt of this moment for 35 years! Nearly made it a couple of times but never thought I would be doing this on my own. But I am. It's my dream, no one else's so I can allow myself a few tears. And above all else it's wonderful.
Andy I have your favourite Elbow track on my iPod lol I know how much you love it. But trust me when I say, one day like this a year would definitely see me right and yes, it's really looking like a beautiful day.
OK, one hour before landing, I managed some sleep but also watched Argo. A really good film, would recommend it. I have filled in my landing card and are now watching a programme on what go do in Sydney. I still have to pinch myself to believe I'm here lol.
As the plane approached Sydney the pilot dipped the plane to the right, I was sitting on the right. I looked down and could see the harbour, bridge and opera house. I cried and the tears wouldn't stop! Like Andy says i am a big girl lol silly I know but none of you know how I have so much wanted to come here and here I was, my dream had come true. I cleared security and customs and there was no problem with Aaron's tea bags lol. Then the next hitch of the holiday. No transfer. I eventually got hold of the child in charge of the desk who was as helpful as a chocolate fire guard. Now what you all must remember is I had an almost four hour delay, lost three hours time difference and a ten hour flight. I will let you fill in how I was feeling. Eventually, after me telling him what to do he said I would have to wait just over an hour or make my own way to the hotel! By now feet had swollen up like watermelons. So I sat with my feet up, literally.
Eventually got to the hotel. So different from HK, carry your own case lol. Room was lovely, so unpacked had a quick shower and ventured out. I went down to the rocks and ticked another thing off the bucket list. I had a large glass of Chardonnay at the Opera Bar. I was sitting in the sunshine, bridge to the left, opera house to the right. Sheer bliss, I nearly fell asleep. Went for a quick bite to eat and more wine and caught the bus back up to the hotel. I am totally exhausted. So having an early night now so I will be fine tomorrow.
So night all, sweet dreams xx
PS heard from Stan lol, he wanted to make sure I had arrived ok lol! No, no need for hat buying girls lol.
Glad you didn't 'take the weather with you' xx
